Petr Saidl

Petr Saidl studied at the Conservatory in Pardubice with Stanislav Juřica and at the Hochschule Franz Liszt in Weimar with Roland Zimmer, Jürgen Rost and Monika Rost. He took master classes with Gordon Crosskey, John Duarte, Hubert Käppel, Costas Cotsiolis, Wolfgang Lendle and others.

He was awarded prizes in numerous national and international guitar competitions. In 1990 he was placed on the premium document of the Czech Musical Fund. He has been teaching at the Conservatory of Pardubice since 1993, and was appointed head of the guitar department there in 2007. Since 2016 he has also been teaching at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague and since 2022 at Hochschule für Musik Dresden Carl Maria von Weber. His students are prizewinners of prestigious national and international competitions (296 prizes, among them 95 first prizes). He cooperates with music publishing houses, he is regularly invited to participate in various guitar competition juries, and he lectures at guitar festival courses, conservatories and music universities.

He has given concerts across Europe, both as a soloist and as a player in various chamber ensembles, often with violinist Bohuslav Matoušek and Leos Čepický, violist Milan Řehák, or as a member of the guitar quartet "Guitar4mation". He has made various TV and radio recordings for ORF, ARD, BR1, Czech Television and Czech Radio. He has released two solo CDs, then one CD with violist Milan Řehák and three with "Guitar4mation".

He has been the director of the project "Guitar Kutná Hora", which organizes The International Guitar Biennial there, a festival called "Guitar Night", which awards a price "The young guitarist of the year".

Petr Saidl plays a guitar by Petr Matoušek.

In 2010 he became part of the D'Addario family.
